I am a self-proclaimed Trepid Tech Mom. I love my kiddos and family dearly and have thousands (really) of cute, adorable photos of them having fun at parks and many playtimes, sitting in front of their first birthday cakes and smiling for some silly selfies.
And yet you won’t see me — or my husband —post their sweet faces or any of these treasured memories online.
A strange concept to some, sure. But trying to keep our kiddos’ digital footprints small was a decision made as we anticipated our firstborn. We enjoy seeing and sharing pics with family and friends only prefer to do so privately to determine best who has access to those images for privacy and safety reasons. At least for as long as we are able.
You may be wondering.
“Why have a website, blog and associated social media accounts if you don’t like to post about your kids or family online?”
Glad you asked :)
Guess you could say this is my little corner of the World Wide Web which is intended to help me keep up with the latest in safe and thoughtful digital parenting as our kiddos grow up. And to inspire others to think about technology and how it can impact — both positively and negatively — ourselves as well as those around us.
Outside of the above, my hope for this space is to encourage people to also talk with one another about technology and how it relates to our kiddos and families ... and keep it going. As we all know, the digital world changes by the second, and it can be challenging to keep up. But it's still our responsibility. We owe it to the next generation, at least in my humble opinion.

To family and friends who may be visiting. As someone who doesn't share a lot of "personal stuff" on social media, I want to welcome you to something that is very personal: Trepid Tech Mom. Let me explain in this special note to you all →
I love all things related to family and dogs. I’m a Midwest girl. I have a passion for the outdoors but am terrified of fish. I enjoy finding new uses for old things. I get very excited about holidays.
My husband and I married in 2007. We met playing rugby. Newman and Eli, our rescue dogs, joined us in 2008 and 2013. Our daughter made her debut in 2015. She was promoted to big sister when our son joined us in 2016.
One of these days I want to write a children's book about staying safe and thoughtful in today’s digital world and inspire at least one person to adopt their first shelter pet.
Outside life online, I can be found accompanied by my crew as we hit up preferred parks and museums, cheer on favorite teams and get together with nearby family and friends.
